Are you disheartened by sending in messages to municipal email addresses and as often as not, heard nothing back about the issue you raised.? Beyond, “Thank you for your message. We value your input," then silence?
Would you like to have your input heard directly by our municipal leaders on matters of importance to us in these turbulent times? In a safe , convenient and respectful manner?
On Tuesday, March 26th, at the behest of Councilor Brunelle, the Canadian team behind, iMatr.org this home grown solution to the lack of opportunity to provide guidance to politicians who seem to not want to hear from constituents met with constituents of Tiny Township at the Tiny Hub in LaFontaine.
This timely initiative was introduced by Councillor Dave Brunelle. Dave is proving to be the sole person actively listening to the residents on our current Council. He recently put forward a motion to delay an imminent vote to approve what will bloom into a $30M+ debt that the 6000 Tiny residences will pay off over the next 30 years. He was voted down , 4 to 1.
At this 1 hour presentation visitors experienced no raised voices, no being told to be quiet. A respectful presentation appreciated by all.
Here’s what Tiny citizens have said who were recently provided an early introduction said:
From Copeland Creek resident, David Wulff: "What a great idea. Not only can I voice an opinion, I can even ask a question for my neighbours to vote on. I can also see how my community felt about the question and options provided. Are we together on an issue, or not?
It’s current, timely and if our individual elected officials choose to ignore it, we’re informed of that and it’s archived. So decision making on upcoming election candidates can be simplified.
I’m already signed on, it was easy. I didn’t even have to call a grandchild to help me sign on. No social media “chatter “, no hassle. Download the secure , monitored app and immediately have your say.”
From LaFontaine resident, Erik Schomann, "While Tiny Council seems to be making quite the effort to restrict people's abilities to express themselves and be heard, it's refreshing to see Councillor David Brunelle adopting the iMatr platform as a means of actually improving engagement."
iMatr Canada Inc. is an independent non-partisan platform looking to revolutionize Canadian politics through its "democratic technology". It looks to foster inclusive dialogue among politicians and citizens by providing a secure and responsive network for meaningful participation both between and during elections. If you feel like you aren't being heard, like many of us are, i encourage you to sign up at iMatr.org today.
A follow up meeting to what will hopefully be a larger crowd will be scheduled in the coming weeks. We hope you will be able to join us and learn how iMatr can help us move forward together.
Because you matter. And so does your opinion.
