Have Your Say: Help Shape Canada’s 2025 Budget—Before Others Do It For You

The federal government is accepting input for Budget 2025, and residents of Tiny are strongly encouraged to participate before the August 28 deadline. If small communities stay silent, major cities like Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver dominate the conversation and funding priorities. By contributing even brief feedback, Tiny residents can help ensure rural needs—like agricultural support, broadband, and housing—aren’t ignored.

The Government of Canada is currently inviting Canadians to participate in its Pre‑Budget Consultations for 2025, and the deadline to submit feedback is August 28, 2025. This is your opportunity to weigh in on the federal government's priorities for the upcoming budget. Whether you're concerned about the cost of living, infrastructure needs, broadband access, climate adaptation, or support for small businesses, your voice matters.

But here’s the truth: if rural and small-town Canadians don’t speak up, the cities will speak for us. Historically, most of the feedback in these consultations comes from major urban centres—Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. As a result, national budgets tend to reflect big-city priorities: transit mega-projects, dense housing initiatives, and urban infrastructure. These aren’t bad investments—but they often come at the cost of ignoring the very real needs of smaller communities like Tiny Township.

This is why it’s so important for residents of Tiny to participate. When we don't, we send the message—intentionally or not—that our concerns don’t exist, or don’t matter. But we do have pressing local priorities: improving rural roads, investing in affordable housing that suits a small-town context, supporting local agriculture, and expanding internet connectivity. These are not luxuries—they’re the foundations of healthy, resilient rural communities.

Submitting your input is simple. You can complete a quick online questionnaire or submit a longer written response. Whether you're a student, business owner, farmer, retiree, or community volunteer, your lived experience has value. What are you seeing on the ground? What investments would actually improve life here? This is the time to say so.

Don’t let Ottawa guess what we need. Tell them. If we want a federal budget that works for everyone—not just the major cities—then Tiny must be part of the conversation.
